SUMMARY:Understanding the Government’s Response to the Supported Housing Regulation Consultation
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Join us for an insightful webinar exploring the Government’s response to the consultation on the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 which sought views on strengthening the regulation of supported housing\, presented by Charlotte Greatorex and Narin Masera of Devonshires. \nThis session will provide a clear overview of the evolving regulatory framework\, including proposed national supported housing standards\, a new licensing regime\, and enhanced oversight powers for local authorities. We will examine the key elements of the Government’s response\, what it means in practice for supported housing providers\, and the anticipated timeline for implementation. \nNarin Masera – Solicitor\, Devonshires \nNarin is a Solicitor in our Banking\, Governance & Corporate team who specialises in Inquests. \nNarin has advised a range of clients on a number of complex multi-agency inquests and has extensive experience on working on Article 2 inquests and inquests that are conducted in an Article 2 compliant fashion. \nNarin has advised Registered Providers of both general needs housing\, specialist supported housing and charities. Narin’s background in housing management and property litigation provides Narin with unique knowledge of the sector and allows her to guide Registered Providers throughout the inquest process. \nNarin is adept at managing all aspects of an inquest\, from advising clients about the inquest process to reviewing cases and drafting correspondence for and to the Coroner. \nNarin also advises clients on the Consumer Standards by providing straightforward advice on both compliance with the Standards and remedying any breaches. \nCharlotte Greatorex – Associate\, Devonshires \nCharlotte is an Associate in our Banking\, Governance & Corporate team. \nInquests\nCharlotte acts for Registered Providers in Article 2 and non-Article 2 inquests. She has experience of dealing with inquests relating to the provision of general needs housing as well as care homes and specialist and specialised supported housing for vulnerable categories of people. The inquests handled by Charlotte are often complex and involve Safeguarding Adult Reviews as well as engagement about/with the Regulator of Social Housing in respect of compliance with the registered providers standards.\nCharlotte’s background in housing management and property litigation provides unique insight when dealing with inquests for registered providers which aids her understanding of the sector and management of her cases. \nRegulation\nCharlotte is part of the rent regulation team advising both private Registered Providers and local authorities (RPs) of all sizes. Charlotte has advised RPs on compliance and assisted in respect of complex rent regulation matters. Charlotte also advises on validity of rent increase notices and interpretating rent increase provisions in tenancies and leases. \nAs part of the Regulatory team at Devonshires\, Charlotte also advises clients on all aspects of the Consumer Standards\, compliance and how to remedy identified breaches. This dovetails with her inquest work as compliance with the Consumer Standards is something that often comes up in the context of a death of a service user. \nOur Session Chair is Andy Lane \nMembers – Free \nNon-Members – £15.00 \nIf you would prefer to be invoiced\, or require assistance\, please email info@shla.org.uk. \nPlease note – tickets for this event are transferable but not refundable if cancellation is within 3 days of the event. \nTO BOOK YOUR PLACE[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
