Qualification: Admitted Solicitor with Practising Certificate or Cilex lawyer with civil litigation practising rights.

Registration: Solicitor Regulation Authority or Cilex, as appropriate.

Join our dedicated Housing Legal Team
We are seeking knowledgeable, dedicated lawyers, who can rise to the challenge of working inhouse. You will have a keen interest in Housing law and determined litigators.

Our Housing Legal Team provides essential advice and representation in relation to housing, homelessness and housing allocation, private sector licensing and more.

We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Solicitor or Cilex Lawyer to pay a key role in supporting the Council’s work to manage its housing stock. You’ll handle a varied and rewarding caseload focused on Housing Condition Claims.

What you’ll do 

As part of our busy Housing and Neighbourhood Nuisance Legal Team, you will use your legal knowledge and problem‑solving skills to deliver high‑quality advice and representation. In this role, you will:
  • Manage Housing Condition Claims from the initial pre‑action protocol stage through to trial where required.
  • Assess liability and quantum, draft responses, and prepare robust legal arguments.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council and contribute to improving standards and outcomes for tenants.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor or Cilex lawyer, or someone with experience in personal injury or similar civil claims who is looking to develop expertise in housing litigation.
