SHLA WELCOMES KATRINA ROBINSON MBE

Following an intense voting period, we are delighted to announce that Katrina Robinson MBE, has been elected to join the SHLA Committee. Katrina will utilise her extensive experience as a former in-house Solicitor, now in Private Practice, to assist her fellow committee members in ensuring a positive future for the Association, and the achievement of its various goals, including developing better solutions to the legal problems faced by social landlords, and advancing the professional development of SHLA’s members.

I am truly delighted to be appointed to the SHLA Committee and to have an opportunity to work closely with the team in delivering effective and practical solutions to social landlords.  Housing law can be a minefield for many, and I hope my many years’ experience of working in-house will help SHLA members navigate that.

An Associate, Katrina specialises in advising on a range of housing management matters including tenancy fraud, anti-social behaviour, disrepair, and access. Highly respected within the industry, Katrina has held a number of influential roles, including founding and chairing the Tenancy Fraud Forum, founding the Disrepair Focus Group, and was the Chair of the Law Society’s LGBT+ Division and the Independent Adjudicator for Grenfell.  In 2016 she was honoured with the MBE to services to Social Housing.

Katrina has substantial experience of working with housing associations and local authorities and regularly obtains possession orders and Unlawful Profit Orders in complex fraud and ASB cases as well as achieving fantastic outcomes in disrepair cases as well as achieving fantastic outcomes in disrepair cases. She also prepares tenancy agreements with clauses that have been reported in the national press and prepares policies and procedures for social landlords as well as working on large tenancy variation projects. She has been described by clients as ‘one of the sector’s leading tenancy lawyers’ with a ‘frank yet warm approach’ and a truly effective innovator.

We are thrilled to welcome Katrina onto the SHLA Committee. Katrina’s knowledge of, and work in, social housing will add to the strength and depth of the Committee for the benefit of all SHLA’s membership.
